Bears put the boot to Broncos

Walter Payton had another big day, but this game belonged to rookie kicker Kevin Butler.

Butler booted a record 10 field goals the 1985 Chicago Bears defeated the 1998 Denver Broncos 37-28. The Bears scored on 11 of their 12 possessions, with Butler kicking four field goals of 40-plus yards, including a long of 51. Chicago improved to 5-5 while Denver fell to 4-6.

Payton had 108 yards rushing, giving him a Super League-leading 1,341 yards through 10 weeks. Jim McMahon was 15 of 26 for 197 yards and a touchdown pass to Willie Gault. Terrell Davis had 142 yards rushing and two touchdowns for Denver.
