Raiders finish on high note

At times, the 1976 Oakland Raiders played great defense. At times, they mixed a strong running game with a deep passing attack. Unfortunately for the black and silver, they didn't always do it at the same time.

Oakland finished an inconsistent Super League season with 28-21 victory over the 1998 Denver Broncos, outgaining Denver 387 yards to 180 as they held Terrell Davis to 77 yards rushing and John Elway to just 121 yards passing. The Raiders finished 7-8 while the Broncos finished 6-9.

Ken Stabler completed 18 of 25 passes and three touchdowns as Oakland's offense kicked into gear during a 4-1 stretch in their final five games. But the Raiders also struggled on offense during a five-game losing streak earlier in the season when they failed to reach 20 points in four consecutive games.

The Broncos never lost more than two games in a row, but had just one two-game winning streak. Davis finished with 1,579 yards rushing and 14 TDs, but Elway and the passing game struggled at times.
