Score one for The Hat.

Landry's '71 Cowboys used a strong running game, a fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Roger Staubach to Mike Ditka, and five field goals from Mike Clark to defeat Jimmy Johnson's '92 Cowboys 29-20.

Landry's '71 squad (2-1) got on the board with two first-quarter field goals, but the '92 Cowboys (1-2) bounced back when Troy Aikman hit Michael Irvin in the back corner of the end zone for a 7-6 lead.

The '71 squad marched downfield behind the power running of Duane Thomas (he'd finish with 102 yards), capped by a short TD pass from Staubach to Walt Garrison. Landry then called for a surprise onside kick, setting up Clark's third field of the game just before halftime.

The '71 Cowboys built a 22-10 lead before Aikman rallied his squad with 10 points in the fourth quarter, including a 6-yard TD pass to Jay Novacek with 3:55 left. But a 60-yard kickoff return by Cliff Harris set up Staubach's game-clinching 10-yard pass to Ditka.
